Constant noop AskQuestions dialogs interrupt workflow

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

When working in the Agents window, I am constantly receiving AskQuestions prompts where the question is called something like “noop (ignore)” and the potential answers are things like A, B, C. They seem to only happen on Auto and if I had to guess it looks like it’s happening when model switching occurs. This has only just started occurring but it is fairly constant and prevents me from backgrounding any task, even when using skills like /nohuman that should prevent pauses or interactivity. This is ruining my workflow.

Steps to Reproduce

Not sure why this is happening to me and not others so reproducibility will be difficult, but it happens to me constantly with normal use.

Expected Behavior

Questions asked should be sensible, pertain to the project at hand, and should not occur at all when the agent is given specific instructions not to ask questions.

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey @enmaku,
Those “noop (ignore)” A/B/C cards are Ask Question prompts. There’s no switch to turn them off, and /nohuman can’t stop them. Same pattern as this thread.

  1. Update Cursor if you’re not on the latest (Cursor menu → Check for Updates).
  2. Add a User Rule under Customize → Rules: Never use the AskQuestion tool. Do not ask clarifying questions or ask me to choose options. Make reasonable assumptions, state them briefly, and proceed. That usually cuts how often they appear, not to zero.
  3. Pin Composer 2.5 instead of Auto.
  4. Hit Skip (Esc) or just type and send when a junk card shows up.

We’ve let the team know. If it still happens after an update, a short recording or a request ID from the card (three dots in the chat → Copy Request ID) would help. More on rules.
