UI automatically changing back to composer2-fast feels like a dark pattern

composer2 is working great, it’s nice to have the composer2-fast option but the 3x price is a serious consideration.

UI is aggressively forgetting my preference after choosing to use composer2 instead of composer2-fast.

This feels a lot like a dark pattern to trick people into using composer2-fast at 3x the price. ("Oops you forgot to un-check fast again, we already billed you lol)

I hope it’s just a UI bug that can be fixed in time.

Oops, it looks like it’s already fixed. Now I feel bad.

(I would happily delete this post to remove the noise but looks like I can’t delete it now.)

Hey Adam — thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the friction.

Two things going on and they kind of overlap:

  1. Fast-on-by-default is intentional and disclosed — we called it out in the Composer 2 launch post
  2. The picker reverting after you’ve already turned Fast off is a bug, and we have a bug report open on it. I’ve added your report to the bug report.

We get a similar thing with subagents unless I am missing something
