Unable to load projects

Have not been able to open a project since the new update 0.47.8.0, whereas before Cursor has been super smooth and flawless for me. But this is literally inoperable. I have seen many posts about memory leaks lately so i imagine that might be the problem here, or related to it, even though i’m not experiencing a memory leak myself. There seems to be no extra RAM usage, but ‘power usage’ does say ‘very high’. I don’t see the cpu usage go anywhere over 30%, but it behaves as if it’s bottle-necking, i can’t click anything, it’s just freezing up.

The chat never loads, the program is extremely laggy, out of about 30 attempts, i only got it to work once, and the lag was extreme. I would type something into the chat and then 10 seconds later i’d watch the text appear. but 9 times out of 10 i can’t even access a project, as soon as i open anything (and the chat tries to load) i just get crashes (see screenshot), and whether i wait or close or reopen, nothing helps.

I am downgrading back to the last version i can find (0.4.6.11) so i can actually get some work done, since i am paying for this. And i probably will not be updating again anytime soon.

Hey, please check this:

Thanks for the response. I do not believe that is the cause because i have the same error with fresh blank projects which have no chat history, or when i try to clone a repo, or essentially open that particular window in any fashion, it just crashes.

In any case, i’ve installed the previous version now, and it runs smooth as cream, super fast, no lag at all, and that is with very long chat histories too.

I’ll consider updating my client when this ghastly optimization issue is fixed. I should not be experiencing lag (much less crashes) with a 10 core cpu and 64GB ram. The new client is literally inoperable for me.

Has this issue been solved yet? Eagerly awaiting being able to update my client.

Hey, lately I haven’t seen any complaints about this. Try updating to the latest version of Cursor, or download it from here:
