Where does the bug appear (feature/product)? Cursor IDE
Describe the Bug Hello, when I make a request in the Cursor AI chat, I systematically get an error telling me to log in. However, I am already logged in — I have tried signing out and back in, closing the app, etc., but nothing works.
Request ID: 314914a2-71ee-4175-bf2f-1d6ff9cf69d0
Running on Mac, Cursor version 3.3.30. Thanks in advance for your help.
Steps to Reproduce Make a request in the AI chat inside the Cursor IDE
To help ensure most of our users can participate in discussions, this forum is currently English only.
If you’d like, you can edit your post to translate it into English. Once it meets our guidelines, it will be automatically relisted.
Thanks for understanding!
Note: This is an automated detection system and sometimes makes mistakes. If your post is already in English, feel free to ignore this message, or just make a small edit and it will be reviewed again.
Additionally, since your issue appears to involve authentication (login errors when using the AI chat), this type of problem needs to be handled by our support team directly. Once you’ve translated your post, you may also want to email [email protected] with the details and your Request ID so the team can investigate.
Since signing out and back in didn’t help, here are a few more things to try:
Check if the Base URL is being overridden: Cursor Settings > Models. If there’s a custom Base URL set, disable it. This is the most common reason for ERROR_UNAUTHORIZED after an update.
Do a full restart: fully quit Cursor with Cmd+Q and not just closing the window, then open it again.
Check Cursor Settings > General for any leftover auth state. Sign out there, fully quit Cursor, open it again, then sign back in.
If none of that helps, can you send a screenshot of Cursor Settings > Models so I can see your active settings? Also, let me know if you’re using a corporate proxy or a VPN that may have changed recently.
@oluwatobi_jolaosho, to avoid mixing this up with the thread author’s issue, please start a separate thread in Bug Reports so we can look into it faster. In the new thread, include:
Cursor version Cursor Settings > About
OS
Exact error text or a screenshot
Request ID of the failed request chat context menu in the top right > Copy Request ID
What exactly happens: does the request send and hang, do you get an error right away, or does the agent start and then stop
While you’re waiting, you can also check the basics: Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics, and make sure you don’t have a custom Base URL set in Cursor Settings > Models.
