Hi Cursor team,
our engineers would like to start using Cursor, however we noticed in your terms (section 16.2) that “We operate the Service from the United States, and we make no representation that Materials included in the Service are appropriate or available for use in other locations.” Connected with that - we see no mention of GDPR compliance in your publicly available resources.
As our engineering team is located in Europe, we reached out to [email protected] as well as hi@cursor for more than 4 times now trying to address this topic.
I am hoping this Forum will be more responsive. I have seen the topic of privacy / GDPR discussed here a few times, without a satisfactory response.
Looking forward to a response!
Thank you

I understand your concerns about GDPR compliance and EU data protection. Let me clarify what we have in place:
For EU teams, we offer several privacy protections:
- Privacy Mode (enforced for Business plans) ensures your code is never stored by Cursor or third parties
- For cross-border data transfers, we implement EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
- We have infrastructure in London for latency-critical operations
- EU users have full data rights (portability, erasure, etc.)
You can find detailed info in our privacy policy: Privacy Policy | Cursor - The AI Code Editor
I totally get the frustration about previous outreach attempts. While we operate from the US, we do take EU data protection seriously and have measures in place to help EU teams use Cursor compliantly
Let me know if you need specifics about any of these measures
