Valuable User Rules just disappeared

Describe the Bug

Opened my machine today, got into Cursor. After a bit of strange behavior, I noticed all my User Rules have just disappeared.
Those are incredibly valuable to me, and now they’re just gone (and a older one has appeared instead).
Is there any way you can retrieve them for me?

Steps to Reproduce

I have no idea how to reproduce this bug.
I used “Add rule” under User Rules in Cursor Settings.

Expected Behavior

My latest User Rules are supposed to load, and not an old one.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hi @Fony thanks for reporting the issue. Its a pre-release and we are collecting those issues to fix.

cc @deanrie is there a way to restore last User Rules?

Hey, from which version did you upgrade?

Hey @deanrie
How do I know for sure?
I think it was cursor 1.1, or a pretty recent one at least.
If I’m not mistaken I updated the version both yesterday and today.
Seems like all my memories are gone too, though those are not as important to me.

Thank you for the report, we’ll investigate this.

I don’t know if you resolved this from your side or not yet.
The issue is now resolved anyhow.

The last things I did before I noticed it was resolved was open cursor through the terminal instead of through Alfred (like macOS Spotlight search)

Not sure if this could’ve triggered anything.. The cmd is a symbolic link that points to the same executable as Cursor.app :man_shrugging:

Hey, I just lost all of my Cursor rules. What should I do? Can you guys undo this? I want those rules back.

I also just notice that my user rules are gone at Cursor Settings → Rules.
Cursor version 1.2.2

Update: I tried opening cursor from the terminal and the user rules were correctly loaded.
I am on windows with WSL
