Error received when I use any model other than o3, Grok 4, o4-Mini. Blocking bug, significantly increasing time and cost to build:

Steps to Reproduce

Use auto mode on my machine right now.

Has been constant for roughly the last 6 hours. Extremely frustrating as I just started paying today.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Could you confirm if you are using MCP or a custom API key on the requests that fail?

Does this also occur on a new chat?

This error often happens when your chat gets too long. Starting a new chat usually clears it up. It’s best to open a new chat whenever you switch to a new task.

I’m encountering the same issue with o3 and o4-mini, even in short 2-message chats. No MCP or custom API keys involved. For me, this seems to happen when o3 or o4-mini make a Read tool call. More info here:

No MCP or custom API key. It started happening shortly after I used o3 for the first time actually. Tried a new chat and it’s working, so something to consider there.
