I have tried to use ‘Agents Window’ twice, but find myself switching back to the usual ‘Editor Window’ because there are a few things that I am used to there that I don’t see in ‘Agents Window’.
Firstly, on a positive note, I like seeing all the different repo’s and chats in the left sidebar in ‘Agents Window’, and I can appreciate the slightly ‘crisper’ UI design.
Questions:
-
Is ‘Agents Window’ meant to be used as a ‘standalone app’ that doesn’t have any relationship with the usual ‘Editor Window’ (the fork of VS Code) - i.e. should we make a choice to use one or the other? Or use both at the same time?
-
Is the ‘Files’ tab in ‘Agents Window’ (where I can see the directory of files, and click on the file names to see their content) meant to be a replacement for the usual ‘Editor’? Is it meant to function the same, just look different?
-
Is there any way to ensure that changes made whilst in ‘Agents Window’ show the familiar prompts to Approve/Undo each change in its ‘Files’ tab (and display the red/green diffs), just like it does in the usual ‘Editor Window’? For me, currently, any changes that are made whilst in ‘Agents Window’ seem to be applied directly to files with no Approve/Undo or red/green diffs. I am not used to not having any control or visibility of what changes are being made.
I have played around with the options on the ‘Files’ tab, but they don’t seem to relate to the Approve/Undo prompts and red/green diffs.
-
In ‘Agents Window’, in the left sidebar there seems to be a drop down section for each folder that I have previously opened in Cursor that contains the chats I had whilst in that folder. The first dropdown, however, is named ‘Home’ - what location does that refer to? Does it sit somewhere outside of the folders I have previously opened? Can it be removed?
-
In ‘Agents Window’, I accidentally started a chat in the ‘Home’ dropdown section, and then I wanted to delete the chat, but my only option was to ‘Archive’ it. So I archived it, and now I cant see it - where did it go and how can I delete it?
-
In ‘Agents Window’, the title of the dropdown sections seem to be the name of the folders I have previously opened in Cursor. However one of them has this syntax
<my-work-organisation-domain>/<my-folder-name>- I don’t like this because I have gone to great lengths over the last couple of years to keep my work organisation name and domain name out of any chats or files that Cursor can see. I don’t know where it is getting the work organisation domain from (perhaps the URL of the related work GitHub account where the remote is?). I have pondered that perhaps it is creating this type of folder name because another folder I have opened previously, in a different location, has the same name (albeit in lowercase) and it is therefore forced to create some sort of differentiation in the folder name? In any case, can this be changed so that there is no chance of any organisational context ending up in Cursor chats or memory etc?
Thank You.
