Why is my Claude Sonnet 5 model always is disable, everytime I restart the Cursor I need to re-enable it in the settings.

Not only the Claude Sonnet 5 model always in disable, the other un-recommend officially model seems unstable as well, sometimes it’s appear sometimes it’s not

Steps to Reproduce

Restart the Cursor

Expected Behavior

Keep the enabled model always enabled

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. There are two separate things here.

First, Claude Sonnet 5 and most third-party models being turned off by default in the model list is expected after a recent change. We reduced the recommended set, and you now need to enable the rest manually.

Second, an enabled model not staying enabled after restarting Cursor should not happen, and it’s not related to your settings. Same for non-recommended models that sometimes show up and then disappear from the list. I shared this with the team and we’re tracking it. I can’t share a timeline yet, but I’ll post an update here once I have one.

For now, the only workaround is to re-enable the model each time. Let me know if you notice any extra details, like whether it’s tied to specific models or only Sonnet 5.
