Why is my models list in Cursor settings missing so many models? (PRO)

Why would we as paying customers need to manually add them?

Please show me where, in plain type, the list of premium versus non-premium models is. I have been unable to find this on your documentation. The page you link to does NOT tell users which models are premium.

Additionally your AI help tool is of no help in the context stating that there’s a premium gemini model that does not show up in my list of models.

Cursor really needs to vastly improve transparency in this regard.

Hey, you can see the list of models here. It also indicates which ones are paid and which ones are free.

I don’t see it. What am I missing? The page you references lists the offered models but does NOT indicate which ones are paid versus which ones are premium.

Please screenshot the portion of that page that defines this information. Cursor staff keep referencing this page as if it shows clearly which are paid and which are premium, but when I view that page, I don’t see it.

Is this info not enough for you?

No it is not.

I am a Pro subscriber which seems to imply I am supposed to get X “premium” model requests a month. And so Claude Sonnet 4 seems to be a model I can use, but none of the Gemini models are available on my plan. If I select one of the Gemini models Cursor tells me that those models are usage based only and I have to enable usage based pricing.

And this is where I think Cursor’s marketing is obtuse, and perhaps even misleading. I think I just learned that Cursor has 3 model tiers. One free, one premium, and one “unnamed” which is neither free, nor premium, and which needs to have usage pricing documented here Cursor – Plans & Usage, but nowhere does it say some models are usage based pricing exclusive.

There is nothing in the Cursor UI, or documentation, that I can find that distinguishes between these latter two model tiers. What is this neither free nor premium model tier and where is documented?

Update, I was actually on Cursor v0.46.

When I updated to 0.50, I see there is a completely different list of models, and in this list, the Gemini model is available for users on the Pro plan.

Cursor should likely implement hot swapping of models so they don’t end up with broken installations. 0.46 is less than 2 months old. IIRC I installed it mid to late April.
