why my recent project all gone when i automatically updated my cursor?
when i show history it says “[composer] No composer data handle found”
but i can find history in my spectory extension.
i Cant’ find recent project and my history chat.
Steps to Reproduce
when i woke up this morning, i just reopen it .
it’s automatically updated to lastest version.
and all my recent project gone. my chat history gone.
but my folders all kept

Thanks for reporting this. This looks like a known data corruption issue with chat history.
However, since you mention that you can still find your history in the SpecStory extension, you can still use those backups, even if they don’t load in Cursor’s interface.
To avoid this in the future:
Regularly export important chats (three dots at the top of the chat → Export Chat)
Keep using SpecStory for automatic backups
Make sure you have enough free disk space before updates (low disk space is the most common cause)
Consider disabling the Agent Window beta feature if it was enabled
Thanks for the extra info and the screenshots. Since your workspace files and history are still on disk, there’s a chance we can recover them.
Quick question: did you recently move or rename your project folder or workspace? If yes, move it back to its original location and restart Cursor, this should restore your chat history.
