I’m using Cursor for last ~4 months.
My experience so far was predominantly positive. I am in software engineering for last 30 years, and here is the sum up of my experience so far:
- Tested the free version. Got some ideas how it can help me.
- Switched to Pro plan. Lost my 500 requests by doing stupid stuff, mainly testing what it can or can not do, or having philosophical discussions about best way to do this or that.
- Got my own way of working, settled with definitely less then 500 requests per month due to my own way of work and where and how I am using Cursor.
However, in last couple of weeks, I have no idea anymore what I am paying for and what I am getting. I feel like I don’t get to decide anymore what is happening even on my own machine - Cursor pushes what Cursor will, dashboard changed in last 3 weeks 4 times, plan I subscribed for doesn’t really exist anymore, so any pretence of predictability is gone.
So here is my question: what makes me trust that when I give 200$ per month, which is not small money, that I will get what I am paying for? That trust, in this moment, I don’t have.
As I said earlier - I am coding for more then 30 years. I am earning my bread by doing that for 25+. I totally understand how Cursor is earning money, Anthropic, problems in between, something that is growing and everyone is still learning how to cope with, but this makes really 0 sense, as comes across as disrespect to people who are paying you, and I can cope with more disrespect for 20$ then I can for 200$.
