Why was start in a specific mode removed as a feature

There used to be a config option to start in a certain mode, why was that removed? I very rarely want to start in agent mode, and each time it does now unexpectedly, it clobbers work I have to redo. It’s very disruptive

Default Mode settings does not appear in Cursor IDE to change the default setting to Ask mode

Hey there! The Default Mode setting was removed in 2.5. From the changelog: Removed Default Mode setting so each new agent conversation begins fresh. The mode defaults to Agent for each new chat, but can be changed in the Composer.
