Word, Excel, and PDFs are something many people want to support.
claude code can do it, just saying🙄
For two whole years you’ve left PDFs unreadable—do you have any idea how I’ve survived? I have to open the file in some other AI assistant, extract the bits I need, and then copy-paste them into Cursor. Why can every other app handle PDFs while Cursor still can’t?
IMO PDFs are just… terrible. I think it’s better to push the industry away from unstructured Adobe bloatware docs and more towards clean formats like Markdown & HTML. If anything, an awesome feature would be a built in PDF parser in Cursor which extracts the PDF content and converts to a Markdown file which chat/agents can easily read.
I didn’t see your comment before adding mine
1,000% agree with this approach vs supporting PDFs directly. PDFs should be considered a legacy format, and a document standard so low we refuse to support it anymore.
Thank u for contributions to this topic over the past two years even though you did nothing for it lol
Regardless of how much I love cursor and any workarounds, not being able to simply attach any file (pdf in this case) with the click of a button is often enough to sway me to competitors like Codex Desktop. Please support.

Yes but you can’t open the PDF in a readable way, without extensions.
