After updating to the latest version today, we were unable to click “Restore Checkpoint”, and several files were deleted. It’s not possible to recover them using “Restore Checkpoint”. How can we solve this issue?
The files were being edited, and I hadn’t clicked “Accept All” when a new version was released and installed. That’s when things broke - it’s now impossible to find the files that were deleted after the update.
I even tried reverting to the old version 1.2.4, but it didn’t help — the original files are still missing. All that remains is an edited version with incomplete code, not the original. This is a serious problem.
Tried to click “Restore Checkpoint”, but the button was disabled.

No - Cursor works, but with this issue
hi @Kiziev and thank you for the bug report.
Apologies for the issue, we have a fix which will be rolling out soon.
This is a serious issue. I can’t restore the files because I don’t have backup copies or duplicate files to replace the broken ones. I’m eagerly waiting for a fix, as I need to continue working. Thank you.
Hi @Kiziev Just ask the chat to make that files again (Make sure to use the same chat), it’s already stored in cursor’s own history. And don’t “Restore Checkpoint” in this version. ![]()
Hi, they can’t fully restore the files. I need to recover them, but they are unable to do it. Do you have any recommendations?
Fix is coming - truly apologize and understand the severity here.
If you are seeing restoration issues and urgently need a fix, you may need to redownload 1.2.4 Downloads | Cursor - The AI Code Editor. The issue here is some checkpointing breaks when a workspace has a .git folder located in a place that cannot be found. We’re testing the updated build right now that fixes it.
The current version 1.2.4 is installed, but the restoration is incomplete. I can see that it only restored the version after some code edits, but not the original files.
Could you email me [email protected]? Will try to help.
I have sent it to you.
@Shivam_Srivastava could you re-install 1.2 Downloads | Cursor - The AI Code Editor until we release the bug fix? (i’ve moved your comment from other thread to here)
He was last online yesterday, so it’s unlikely he came today. Just update the version to fix it.
Same issue for me. Should I downgrade version to 1.2?
Yes, try it, but it doesn’t help me.
Hi, if I install the 1.2.4 version, will I experience any loss in my chat history settings project on 1.3? Thanks for the information.
uppp
You will not.
Wrote back to your email!
Nothing has changed after the update. Currently using version 1.3.2 and also tried 1.3.1. From downloadcursor.app. Since then, the encoding issue has not been resolved. You can refer to this Request ID: 466baada-4d06-4443-a7b4-91e67705a286.
