Agent keeps deleting all content (Auto mode)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I got the Ai agent, in auto mode, to generate a implementation plan of a new feature. I then told it to start the implementation after I read though it. To start with it went well, until it started deleting all the content in the files it should do changes in. It looked like it did it as the first thing when interacting with the file. So full content delete without any changes, besides the deleted content.

It then tried to fetched the information in the file, but since its all deleted now it then said it as empty.

Steps to Reproduce

IDK ask it to make changes. It dont happen all the time, but I have experienced it 3 times now. On different implementation changes.

Expected Behavior

That it did not delete the full context of the file, but only made the changes needed.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Auto mode

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey, thanks for the report. Is this happening in a new chat, or has your chat been around for a while? Since chats get summarized, the context can still get cluttered and the model may start to hallucinate. Could you also share the request ID? To do that, you’ll need to turn off Privacy Mode.

It has been going on for a bit, but I have had longer conversations before without this problem. It started to happen after I updated cursor.
