The new Agent view has tons of problems when set as Default…

  1. When you toggle to show the right-pane, you can not toggle it back. This creates a duplicate chat window on top of the agent view… you cannot close it except for closing the IDE and restarting.

  2. No access to the file explorer/tree, yes there is a toggle to view files but that only shows files being changed or you need to search… This should have the file tree option available.

  3. Toggling browser/terminal/files has weird behavior where it implicitly will toggle them joined instead of just having individual toggles. UX displays individual toggles, but clicking one will light up multiple, very annoying… It should either be a whole “pane” or if you have distinct toggle buttons there, then the actions should also be distinct.

  4. Cursor settings is buggy as all hell. Keyboard shortcuts won’t open, profile settings won’t open, opening vscode settings takes over the agent view and you cannot get out of it.

More stuff couldn’t exactly capture, but there’s rampant bugs in this view that make it unusable IMO. The amount of times I have to close Cursor and reopen the app to get it back to the proper view I want is like every 10 minutes basically…

Steps to Reproduce

Set default view mode to “Agent”. Then try 1-4.

Expected Behavior

  1. Why show another agent chat pane on the right when I’m already in the “Agent” multi chat view. Not only is this pretty useless, but then it won’t even close without closing out of the app.

  2. Missing file explorer in this view, it should be apart of the files toggle.

  3. Pick either individual toggles or grouped. Right now it’s a mix, confusing, and quite frustrating.

  4. Cursor app settings like Shortcuts, Profiles should be accessible in this view without having to open a “Edit” mode view to make these changes. Also, the VSCode settings when opened, is permanently fixed in view, with no way to close.

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Update: I’m actually seeing most of the issues have been addressed. The toggling works and now file explorer is accessible and there’s not dupe agent view. Also, VSCode settings doesn’t get stuck open.

So far so good!

In the latest version 1.7.54, does this also happen?
