API quota shows 100% used but Claude Opus 4.6 still works

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Cursor IDE and sign in with the same account that shows the quota issue.
  2. Go to Settings → Usage (or Cursor Dashboard → Usage / Billing).
  3. Confirm the API usage indicator shows 100% [add: “fully used” or paste exact label from your UI, e.g. “100% of monthly API quota used”].
  4. Open a new Agent or Chat session (Composer / Chat sidebar).
  5. In the model picker, select “Claude Opus 4.6” (use the exact name shown in your UI).
  6. Send any simple prompt, e.g. “Reply with OK only.”
  7. Observe: the request completes successfully and returns a normal response (no quota exceeded / billing error).

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, this isn’t a bug, it’s working as intended.

The 100% used indicator only shows your Pro plan included quota usage. Your account also has credits, which are a separate pool that automatically covers requests after you run out of included quota. That’s why Claude Opus 4.6 keeps working without errors.

If you look at the usage breakdown for the last few days, you can see some requests are billed to included, and some to credits, mostly claude-4.6-opus-high-thinking.

Agreed the UI could be clearer. Right now it’s not obvious that credits are a separate pool. This feedback about improving the display is already on our radar.
