Apply sometimes doesnt work at all

If I want to apply an answer from the LLM to the existing code it sometimes doesnt do anything at all.
It offers me to select “entire file” or just a Classname - but neither of it works.

If I ask the LLM again for changes it sometimes work again - but with the new “pay per use” e.g. of o1-mini this is very disturbing.
I dont think that the simpe “apply” task does need any LLM calls at all - it should just compare the changes of the LLM answer and the corresponding file and show the changes.

Hi @mgredenberg ,

It may assist in troubleshooting if you could provide any relevant information from the steps listed here:

https://docs.cursor.com/troubleshooting/troubleshooting-guide

In particular system info from Menu > Help > About, the model you have selected to send the prompt to, and whether you are using any VPN.

  1. Screenshot of the issue
(“Apply” in the chat does nothing)

  1. Steps to reporoduce:
Open a file and ask in a chat for changes to the file. Sometimes the changes cannot be applied.

  2. System information:
    Version: 0.41.1
    Commit: 1.91.1
    Datum: 10e3716b510a5d447c1a07b2edd37a352bbea4d0
    Electron: 2024-09-18T07:38:06.522Z
    ElectronBuildId: 29.4.0
    Chromium: undefined
    Node.js: 122.0.6261.156
    V8: 20.9.0
    Betriebssystem: 12.2.281.27-electron.0

  3. No VPN or something like that.

  4. No errors on the developers console when selecting “Apply” “to entire file”. Simply nothing happens.

  5. No changes in the log files during selecting of “Apply”.

Thank you @mgredenberg .

Can you please add what language model you have selected in the chat?

chat_llm_selection

And what operating system and version you are using?

And whether you are Hobby, Pro or Business tier user?

You may also want to try updating if possible:

https://changelog.cursor.sh

The latest version displayed there is 0.41.3

The Cursor team usually do rolling deployments, so it may not be accessible on your device at the moment.

But the two ways you can get updates when they are available is to you are:

  • Click on the Download button at https://www.cursor.com

  • Ctrl + Shift + P (to open command palette) and select Cursor: Attempt Update

(note, if the update is not available to you, the latter action won’t do anything)

I had this problem too. So I removed other AI plugins from cursor and the problem was solved.

I was using the gpt-4o model and my operating system is MacOS 15.0
I have a Pro Subscription with Cursor.

I just upgraded Cursor to 0.41.3 (after NOT working with Cursor for the whole day) and after start the first what I get is this:

I have not used Cursor for at least 20 hours and now I should have exceeded the maximum amount of requests per minute just after starting it??
