Are there any releases that actually work right now?

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

try using cursor 1.17.11 or the last couple of versions.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report. I understand your frustration.

For stability, I recommend trying version 1.5.11, which many users say is quite stable. You can download it here:

High CPU usage and hangs in 1.7.11 might have causes not related to Cursor. In the meantime, these steps can help:

  • Temporarily disable some extensions to see if CPU usage drops, or launch Cursor in safe mode: cursor --disable-extensions
  • Check if any large files or projects are open that could cause indexing issues
  • Try clearing the cache

If the rollback doesn’t help, you can find more troubleshooting steps here:

Thanks for the recommendation of 1.5.11. A popup displayed about extension bisect, so I ran that and it disabled all my extensions and now cursor is running a lot better.
