In the last few days, each prompt to my Cursor with Pro subscription takes at least 2 minutes to compile any meaningful answers, and sometimes it just hangs and doesn’t provide any answers, while using up the credits. I’m using Claude Sonnet 3.5 model and Command + L to highlight areas of the code I want to discuss.
Note: I did suspect it had something to do with the “long context” option that I turned on, but I turned it off and worked without it for a while, it doesn’t fix anything.
Also, this was not an issue until yesterday, when it started behaving weirdly.
Do you have any reproduction steps? I.e. does this only happen on chats with lots of messages?
Apologies; yes, I do.
So the less messages there are in chat, the lesser the wait is. For example, if the chat previously had 5 messages, the wait will be e.g. 1 minute, but if it’s 8-10, it will go up to 2-3 and after 10+ messages, it will just permanently hang and not give a response.
I’ve found a temporary workaround where I open a chat window every 3-5 messages, but you can see how that’s not ideal.
More context: I’m using the latest version and on MacOS, if it helps.
After more testing, I can confirm that it has something to do with Claude Sonnet 3.5 model.
Once I switch to ChatGPT 4 and any subversions, I have no issues whatsoever, although chat lacks a lot of context and precision.
