Attached indexed documentation not working - AI doesn’t see it

Describe the Bug

When I attach indexed documentation, the AI does not use it. It completely ignores the docs and often replies as if nothing is attached, sometimes even saying the documentation is empty. This happens with Claude 4.

Steps to Reproduce

1.	Open Cursor (tested on versions 1.5 and 1.6).
2.	Attach indexed documentation to the project.
3.	Ask the AI a question that should be answered from the attached docs.
4.	Observe that the AI ignores the docs or says they are empty.

Expected Behavior

The AI should read and use the attached indexed documentation when answering questions.

Operating System

MacOS

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Cursor version: 1.5.x and 1.6.x (tested on both, issue reproduced)

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Claude 4 (haven’t tested with other models yet)

Additional Information

The AI responds as if no documentation is attached. Sometimes it explicitly says the docs are empty, even though indexed documentation was added.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report, could you provide a link to the documentation?

The issue is not tied to a specific documentation file. It happens with any attached indexed documentation. Previously the same docs (for example, Telegram Bot API) were working fine, but since around September the AI consistently ignores them. So it looks like the problem is general and not related to one particular doc link.
