The first days after the background agents were released I found this a lifesaver. I set a task with autonomy rules at night, woke up to a single page web app with just two bugs to fix. I then found it useful to issue tasks from my smartphone if I was away from my computer but had ideas.
I am noticing the past few days that my background agents were disappearing. I thought maybe it was after deleting the dev branch after merging, but at this point they are disappearing right away.
Steps to Reproduce
(1) go to Cursor - The AI Code Editor
(2) select repo
(3) give a task
(4) Background agent starts in lower lefthand corner
(5) agent disappears
Expected Behavior
I am expecting to see the background agent in the center of the screen under the chat window, either “working” or “complete”
Operating System
Windows 10/11
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
Seems that the background agent did get to work, I know this as it created a PR, but I cannot interact with it as it is entirely missing from the main /agents url
Just happened to me, apparently right after having merged a PR that was associated with the background agent. I still needed the agent though, as it had created a second branch after subsequent prompts, with work that was not included in the first PR.
Yes - ABsolutely - just entirely disappears. Even if there’s been a PR committed, the conversation should remain - not disappear. There’s so much context there.
Agreeing here as well - going back to look for agents that already had a PR merged and they just disappear from the dashboard - I need the context of history of what the agents did…
