Billing Bug: New Pro mode exceeding usage billing threshold WITHOUT WARNING!

Some transparency is needed in the pricing model for the new “Pro” mode. Unlimited requests are not unlimited in any way. After less than 30 mins of usage I suddenly started to get charged for usage without warning.

I am using it in your mode and have not activated MAX. He also recognized the use of MAX. I even activated the $1 limit based on usage and then disabled it, but deducted a lot of money. Officials should make up for this. I can’t afford to pay this month’s bill. This is a credit card. Your CEO should go to jail. You have ruined our lives. Randomly deducting fees is too scary. How should I handle next month’s payment? I am unable to make payment

I would also add that upgrading to “Ultra” is not possible firstly due to:

a) No transparency on the Pro plan usage. I shouldn’t be able to hit the rate limits with such little usage especially when I was billed $100 4 days ago for 2,500 requests. Even if it is token based there is no way I have hit this limit. Where have these gone with the sudden upgrade to the new pricing model?!

b) Pro Rata billing has not been enabled on the Ultra plan. I paid $100 on 14th June for Pro and its asking me to pay $200 straight away for Ultra.

Hey, please send an email to [email protected].

So it was a bug? Why did the charges start without any notice?

@deanrie - I’ve confirmed this is a billing bug that needs to be addressed. When a user hits the rate limits there are no calls to check if a users billing threshold has been reached before continuing.

I have reproduced this twice now and have managed to incur costs $10 above my threshold.

Yes, I argued with your official technical team for 2 days yesterday and today, and they finally believed what I said. There must be a problem with multiple billing methods for the same minute
Thank you for patiently listening to my explanation. This is impossible for other large companies,
I also deducted the extra cost, thank you, that’s great

He does have a problem with billing, when the limit is about to be reached he will force the usage deduction to be turned on

I’m experiencing this problem without turning on usage based
.
It seems his current problem is that when the limit is reached, he will ignore the usage based chargeback.

This happened to me as well, same issue.

No email needed, can confirm this happened as well.

I sent the email, got the reply saying this “feature” is correct and intended. I explained the issue back and forth 3 times via email, the support keeps saying there is no issue. Very frustrating.

Thanks for the clarification and screenshot! Let me explain what’s happening:

When you hit your Pro plan’s rate limits with usage-based pricing enabled, you were charged for those requests (the “Usage-based” ones in your screenshot). As soon as you disabled usage-based pricing, new requests became “Included in Pro” because they’re now covered by your Pro plan’s unlimited usage with rate limits.

This is actually working as designed - the Pro plan gives you unlimited usage subject to rate limits, and usage-based pricing is only needed if you want to exceed those rate limits. You can read more about how this works here: Cursor – Rate Limits

Let me know if you have any other questions!

The explanation doesn’t make any sense.
