Me too same issue, even though I logged in with an edu email, I still didn’t get the discount

I am using a german adress from my university. I got verified too but IT only works with amercian .edu adresses. So i guess this is Not a Bug but intentionally

I’m trying to sign up for the student offer, but I can’t find “India” in the country dropdown menu on the verification form. I typed “India,” but only “British Indian Ocean Territory” appears as an option. I’ve tried clearing my browser cache and using a different device, but the issue persists. Could you please assist me in resolving this or provide an alternative way to verify my student status?

My situation is a bit different. I originally subscribed to a one-month Cursor Pro plan. After I verified and clicked on ‘Apply Discount’ in the email, I found that I only received one month of free Pro plan, with the next payment date being June 8, 2025. This is quite confusing.

Somthing has changed but there are still issues between 5/7 and 5/8.

Previously I was able to apply to sheer ID and got a link with my edu email. I clicked activate which sent me to a billing page with no discount totalling $20/month which was on May 7.

Now on May 8 I see that it is bringing me to the account setting page instead. Also if I try to apply again it says that I have already tried to use this discount and under it is the sheer ID webpage. When I go into sheer ID’s webpage and hit continue where left off it sends me a new email for the discount then the same thing happens again where im redirected to the account setting page.

Who do we contact for this? Sheer ID or cursor or wait for the bug to be fixed?

I registered using my student email and wanted to verify my account, but I ran into this issue. I contacted support yesterday, and they told me another specialist would get back to me. Today, I decided to check if the issue was resolved, but I encountered the same problem you can see in the screenshot.

I’m a student at Tel Aviv University, where our official student emails use the domain “@mail.tau.ac.il”. This is a verified academic domain linked to Google’s education platform. Many universities outside the U.S., including mine, don’t use “.edu” but instead assign local or institution-specific domains.

I went through the SheerID verification process and received confirmation from Sheer that I was successfully verified. However, it seems that because my email doesn’t end in “.edu”, my access is still restricted. This feels unnecessarily limiting and excludes a large number of legitimate students from around the world.

I’d strongly suggest considering alternative verification options—such as accepting broader domains via SheerID, or incorporating facial verification tied to a student ID card or something along those lines.

The current system risks looking like a PR move rather than a genuine effort to empower students with high-end tools.

It’s a fundamental discipline that nothing can be changed to user account by a failed verification.

I’m having the same problem!

Thanks for sharing this issue! I would also like to mention that in the “Country” select box on the student verification page, Turkey is missing. It would be great if the team could add Turkey to the list as well.

Same here! I pushed the button apply discount and it asked for me to pay. I just made my account though so I do have 14 days of pro. So I was verified as a student (cursor did redirect me to my University’s SSO and logged in succesfully) but there was no discount of the sort.

Last month, I paid for the Cursor Pro subscription using my Gmail account. Later, I came across the one-year offer and tried to verify my student identity with my university email. The verification process went smoothly, and after applying the discount, I was redirected to my Gmail account, where the discount was successfully applied. A few days later, I noticed a 10-euro refund from Cursor in my bank account, likely because I had only used Cursor for 14 days before applying the discount. So, maybe the reason the discount was applied is that I was already subscribed and had paid 20 euros before applying the discount. idk

Hi, thanks for your interest in our Student Discount.

We have seen a lot of questions come from this offer, so we have collated many of the answers to those questions here:

For any further questions, please comment them within that post.

Note: Please do not request specific countries or schools to be added - we are working on rolling this out to more students soon, but requesting your school will not make any difference to its eligibility
