Bug where discounts were not applied even if you received an email from SheerID confirming your student status

This may be because you logged in with a non-university account when accessing the student verification page.
After that, I verified my student status against my university account and received an email stating that I was approved, but the discount was not applied.

Same problem

I have the same issue. I validated the student account via SheerID. Everything went fine. I even received the mail as in I validated the student coupon, and I had to click on the button to redeem it. In the meanwhile my session logged off from the browser automatically. When I clicked on the discount button on the mail, it opened Cursor login page. I logged in with my student account (same one as the one I applied the coupon on), it brought me to the checkout page showing the full price no discount applied. I waited a bit to see if anything changes. Nothing happened so I closed the tab and reclicked on the link, it keeps sending me to the checkout page showing the full price. I tried entering my billing info if that would change anything. Nothing.

By the way, I received a mail after having tried my billing info, saying that I upgraded successfully to pro, having 500 requests etc… - but it doesn’t reflect the status of my account. I’m still on the free version having 0/50 requests, and can’t use any because it keeps saying “server too busy upgrade to pro account”.

Closed the full window, reopened, deleted cookies, tried incognito mode, tried another device. Nothing. Waited few hours if ever it was a server issue, nothing.

When I applied, I logged in with a different .edu email address, but my application was successful. Neither the previous email address nor the current .edu email address can enjoy the discount through the discount link. :collision:

I use an ac email address.
I’ve seen reports of ac email addresses not working, but my friends from university have had success with it, so I don’t think it’s a problem with the email address.

Hi! So my procedure went as it should with cursor (up to the discount part). I used my university email, I got the email, I selected my university, Sheerid redirected me to my institutions SSO, logged in and I got an email that my student status has been confirmed. I selected Apply Discount from the confirmation email (which btw the link is: Cursor - The AI Code Editor ) and when I pushed upgrade to pro (since the system shows Account Pro Trial 14 days left) it redirected me to a stripe checkout.

Those where the steps taken. I would appreciate some feedback or a contact email to fix this. Thank you.
