Can't dock other windows in the ride sidebar

In VS Code, I like have a couple of frequently used tabs (the native document outline and a tab from a bookmarks extension) docked in my right side bar:

However in Cursor, I can’t seem to dock any tabs in the right side bar any more. Presumably because Cursor’s AI Chat tab is here?

Maybe this is intentional and should be a feature request, but because Cursor is a fork of VS Code I’m going to start by assuming loss of functionality was not intended

Also related, but more minor: I can’t dock the AI Chat tab in another location (e.g. left side bar). I know I can pop it out into a separate window, but it would be nice to be able to dock it somewhere else.

Hi @lariozafilament

Why can’t you? I can move everything to the right side by dragging.

Ohhhhhhh! The UX is different.

I was confused because in all other locations, you get this drop zone when you drag a tab into a dock area:

Although, while this is better than what I originally thought, I still can’t stack tabs in the right side bar as shown in my original post. This is useful if I want to see two tabs simultaneously in the sidebar.

Oh wait never mind. I can stack tabs. They just can’t be stacked with the AI chat tab.

I think the source of this confusion came from the change in UX. Initially when I first tried doing this I didn’t have the AI chat tab open, so there was nothing in the right side bar. And since dragging a tab over to the right side bar has a different interaction, I thought it wasn’t working.

I’d still like to be able to stack the AI Chat tab at some point, but this is now far less of a problem for me!
