Can't use Cursor Tab even when signing up for a pro account

Hi there,

I signed up for a pro account yesterday, but my IDE still says “require pro” when I hover over Cursor Tab in the bottom nav bar.

I installed Cursor on another machine and it works fine there.

I have tried uninstalling on this machine and reinstalling, and it still doesn’t work. I am signed in, and it clearly says I have a pro account inside the IDE when I do so.

How can I fix this please? Thanks!

I can’t take the screenshot of the hover text on the Cursor Tab element in the bottom nav because it disappears when I try to take it, but when I hover, it says, “Requires pro (custom model)”.

Hi @citypaul ,

Have you tried, within Cursor, logging out and logging back in?

That does seem to have worked for a few people in the past.

If you are able to copy/paste system info from Cursor > Help > About, that might also help with troubleshooting.

I have tried logging out and back in again. I just did it again and it’s still the same.

Here’s the output from the About dialogue:

This is a corporate machine and has zscaler installed - I don’t know if it could be related to that? Other ai features such as the chat appear to be working though.

Hi @citypaul ,

I have seen the Cursor team make reference to VPNs and zscaler before:

I wonder if you go to either of the following locations if you see any related error messages or logs:

Cursor > Help > Toggle Developer Tools and then click Console and see if there are any errors.

Cursor > Terminal and then click the drop-down and select Window (or any of the Cursor-specific options, such as Cursor Tab).

I am just a fellow user but hoping some of these steps will assist in troubleshooting.

Thanks for the response @litecode and I appreciate it, but unfortunately I’ve not been able to discover much there and I’m still unsure why this isn’t working. It would be great if anybody from the Cursor team may be able to advise?

Bumping this one - any ideas anybody? I don’t want to have to cancel my pro subscription, but I’ll have to if I can’t use the features :frowning:

rollback to 0.39.6 and it works now…

@coty can you point me to where the old versions are still available please? I tried installing the older version via brew, but it’s not working for me. I looked in Github but I couldn’t find any links to releases?

sorry, I find it on my download folder.

Hi @citypaul ,

Just bumping this one for you - is your Pro account in Cursor working yet?

Have you downloaded the latest Cursor version and signed in with the email account you signed up to Pro with?

Are you still using Zscaler (or a VPN)?

(I know you have tested all these things previously, but just double-checking to get the most recent info).

Thanks for the nudge @litecode, but unfortunately, after updating I still have the same issue.

As it happens, I’ve found a workaround for this - I’m remote desktopping into my personal machine, and then I’ve set up sshfs to mount the remote directory on my work machine, and that works. It’s a bit ridiculous but it does work. And sshfs was new to me and it’s pretty cool!

Thanks for all your help with this btw, I do appreciate it. Hopefully in a future update this will start working, but for now at least I can move ahead with this setup.

Just an update here. I updated to 0.41.1 this morning, and Cursor Tab is now working without any workarounds!
