Claude 3.7 Sonnet Responding with "<no message>" During Task Execution

Describe the Bug

I’ve been using Claude 3.7 Sonnet, and I’m consistently encountering an issue where it responds with when it’s supposedly executing a task or responding to me. It seems to have an internal understanding of what it’s doing, as the task often progresses, but the actual output shown to me is just . This is quite unhelpful as it completely obscures what the model is working on or thinking about, leaving me in the dark.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Configure Cursor to use Claude 3.7 Sonnet as the underlying model.
  2. Engage the agent in a task or conversation that requires it to process information and provide a response, especially those involving tool use or complex reasoning.
  3. Observe the agent’s output. Frequently, instead of a descriptive message, the response will appear as , despite the agent seemingly continuing to process or execute the task in the background.
