Composer disappears when dragging it to another screen

I love Cursor and Composer  .

I also love the pop-out/floating feature of Composer.

(I would love it on Ctrl + L too).

I mentioned it previously in a post comment but thought I would create a separate post for this behaviour, which seems to be unintentional.

Composer ‘disappears’ when you try to drag it to another screen.

See attached screenshot of undesired behaviour.

Having Composer and Ctrl L in another screen would keep the Cursor interface free of distractions etc.

I actually found last night I was using Chat GPT in a browser on another screen, because I wanted my Cursor interface uncluttered etc.

Thanks. I had seen it, but my issue is that when I move the Composer window outside Cursor’s main window, it disappears. I just don’t see it any more.

Do you have the same issue?

Hi @miguel ,

There are three Composer views available:

  • Bar (Ctrl + I)
  • Pane (Ctrl + I and then Ctrl + D)
  • Control Panel (Ctrl + Shift + I) - can be dragged to another screen

Below are screenshots of each view.

Screenshot 01 - Composer - Bar View

Screenshot 02 - Composer - Pane View

Screenshot 03 - Composer - Control Panel View (on another screen)

Are you able to see each of those different Composer ‘views’?

If you can see the Control Panel view, can you drag that to another screen?

Can you please share your system info from:

Cursor > Help > About

Also, I am not yet sure if it is related, but I have enabled this setting - do you have that enabled?

Right, so I just noticed the little windows icon in the Control Panel view, which I seem to have missed somehow yesterday!

When I click that icon, I am indeed able to move the Control Panel to a new window.

Thanks very much for your help!

It opens as a new window, but I still can’t drag it to another screen?

I’ve also come across a bug where I add compose to the pane, clicked the “open as bar” button, and now I can’t open it as control panel/window. It is stuck in either bar or pane as the only buttons/options that work – clicking “open control panel” does not do anything.
