Allow Composer window to be detached from main window for use on another monitor

Just a quick one, would be nice to be able to detach and push the Composer window out on its own to a different monitor.

Also 200k + folders add in Composer.

Looks like it is available now, as at 0.41.1.

For composer, Ctrl + Shift + I and then drag the modal window to another screen.

For Ctrl + L chat, click on the Open Chat in Editor icon, and then drag the editor tab to another screen.

Edit: Hmm, Composer is working fine for me on another screen, but perhaps I spoke too soon about Chat on another screen, I seem to be getting undesired behaviour when I have the AI chat editor tab on another screen - when I ask for some suggestions, and then click ‘Apply’, it says ‘No file to apply to’ - still, a step in the right direction  .

I don’t know who liked the above post, but it seems the information is a hallucination? That window (Composer Control Panel - Ctrl+Shift+I) does not allow any movement of the modal at all (unlike its Ctrl+I variant).

yup I just tried to move the modal window out of the main editor display and it doesn’t work, the modal is within ‘canvas’ of the main IDE, it cannot move out of it. Same with the chat sidebar, those cannot be detached as another window, or I just don’t know how.

+1 for the ability to use it in another window

Hi @surcor and @aliensoul ,

I am on 0.41.2 on Windows and this is what I see:

Seems like they added this feature for Windows and not everybody

Ubuntu:

Yeah, just confirmed the latest update on Mac and detaching composer isn’t working. Unless I’m missing something?

I’m guessing this is the feature that should enable it, but doesn’t seem to on anything other than Windows

Looks to be that way, don’t see the option on Mac.

Oh sweet, I’ve just realised today that the composer window is now an actual window on Ubuntu!!!

    :tada:

Well done cursor team this is much better!

This is not working for me with v0.42.3 on Mac even with window control panel (beta) enabled in cursor settings.

Should it work on Mac?
