Confusing new pricing charge

the new pricing charges are so confusing, one moment i’m changed usage-based, then next minute it’s included in pro, then the next usage is back at usage based.

Also there was 8 hours gap between my last usage-based charge, 8 hours later when i started using cursor, I only get 9 messages that’s ‘included in pro’ then start charging me again.

What’s going on? and the new usage based pricing is so expensive, it’s at close to $1 per message. (claude 4-sonnet)

I have the same issue! Sonnet 4 uses 2 requests which is 8 cents.
Now I’m getting charges of 60 cents and 80 cents per use, makes no sense.
I stopped using until we get a response.

Its because the model is not on promotional rates anymore

I disabled the ‘usage-based pricing’ in my account, the following messages are all ‘included in pro’, So that means i didn’t hit my daily rate limit and still got charged.

I think there is a bug or something. Lets see what happens

The new billing is a pit, disguised for $200, disguised price increases

Yes there is a billing bug. Please upvote this post so this actually gets resolved: Billing Bug: New Pro mode exceeding usage billing threshold WITHOUT WARNING!

I sent the email, got the reply saying this “feature” is correct and intended. I explained the issue back and forth 3 times via email, the support keeps saying there is no issue. Very frustrating.

Thanks for the clarification and screenshot! Let me explain what’s happening:

When you hit your Pro plan’s rate limits with usage-based pricing enabled, you were charged for those requests (the “Usage-based” ones in your screenshot). As soon as you disabled usage-based pricing, new requests became “Included in Pro” because they’re now covered by your Pro plan’s unlimited usage with rate limits.

This is actually working as designed - the Pro plan gives you unlimited usage subject to rate limits, and usage-based pricing is only needed if you want to exceed those rate limits. You can read more about how this works here: Cursor – Rate Limits

Let me know if you have any other questions!

The explanation doesn’t make any sense.
