Cursor 2.0 "Agents View" - What's the point?

I don’t get the Agents view in Cursor 2.0. Its just the same as the editor but with the panels in different spots. I appreciate the various improvements, but I expect most users aren’t total vibe-coders, and we need to see and interact with the code.

Unless its truly adding value, my advice is to leave the UI as close to the same as possible, and make any new changes off by default and enabled with a setting. People like what they are used to and prefer to keep using a bad UI that they know over a great UI that is new. Every time you make changes to UX and UI this forum just becomes a wall of hate. Stop turning these on by default for existing users and let them discover them if they have the desire, and you will keep everyone much happier.

Agree 100%.

Having it enabled by default was a big mistake. Made it seem that Cursor was completely different. I hope Cursor does not continue to add features that cater to vibe coders, since its well design for actual programmers is what sets it apart from the alternatives that seem to be catering to vibe coders.

You can just click Editor in the menu bar to return to the ‘old’ view.

I suspect that more and more customers of this kind of product will be non-coders (or vibe coders), so the new default layout is what they need to see when they first open Cursor. That type of user won’t hunt for the options they need - it just needs to work for them.

The “AI Pane” in the Editor view is barely usable. We should be able to have a usable Agents view AND the Editor view. This was available in a release a week or two, but Cursor removed it from the final Cursor 2.0 and implemented this half baked toggle.

and I like the new interface, before the update I didn’t have enough space on my not-so-small monitor, but now using Ctrl+E I can easily switch from one view to another and now I have enough space for everything.

Yes, mostly same, just using space better than before. I like it

I haven’t found a way to turn it off. I would like to get rid of the two buttons, they take up space on the menu bar.

The option to change the view is in the Cursor Settings, we don’t need to switch between the two views, why have this button cluttering up my workspace? The seem to have the impression that I will want to change between them as I work?
