Thread to discuss changes / opinions of the 2.4 update. Just received an update to 2.4.5, tentatively seeing:

  • Subagents and skills moved out of nightly (exciting)
  • New icons for agents in the agents side bar

DANGER!!! I just installed 2.4.7 and it erased all my history and agents.

i installed latest version that pushed me today(2026-01-21), stuck my mac and restart….. i download the 2.3 version immediately and override it !!! daem it

yeah nice, im excited about subagents and i noticed three of the problems i kept screaming about for past 2 months are finally fixed and so far one more introduced (file structure icon in top right is same as chat window - lol)

anyone dicover the new features in version 2.4.x? There are no changelog published on official website.

I installed the upgrade to 2.4, and now it looks like I’m not logged in. I saw errors “Agent Execution Timed Out” and was prompted to run extension bisect. The account icon in the sidebar says “No accounts requested yet…”. When I log out and log back in, it thinks I’m in a free trial, not my enterprise account.

I’m going to download 2.3 and try that.

Installing 2.3 seems to fix my account status.

2.4 is broken. Going back to 2.3 God knows how many extension i have disabled to fix this but it doesn’t work. Just reverted to 2.3 and the IDE is back again. Thx guys

So far, it seems that 2.4 is not ready for prime time. In fairness, I think it’s still early release cycle. A bit disappointing given the focus on reliability from 2.3. Looks like 2.4.14 just released but already seeing bug reports e.g. Source Control has been broken with latest update 2.4.14

Suffered for same problem. Just update with the newest version(commit), and now it’s fixed.

They do not have a testing team and can only rely on users to report after discovering the issue.

I fixed it by downgrading back to the version 2.3.41 installed via brew.

I discovered two issues with Cursor Version: 2.4.21.

  1. Unable to access github.com using gh from the Sandbox (results in a “not found” DNS error)
  2. Despite being in Ask mode, it attempts to edit like Agent mode and gets stuck in a loop

Regarding 1., it works fine in the terminal. The problem only occurs within the Sandbox where Agent runs. I checked firewalls and disabled them, but it didn’t resolve the issue. I believe this is an internal Cursor problem.

I’m using macOS with the latest version (26.2).
I tried reinstalling Cursor and restarting my PC, but it didn’t fix the problem.
