Cursor 3 web interface for Background Agents shows wrong model and can't change models

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Background Agent (GitHub, Slack, Web, Linear)

Describe the Bug

The web interface to control background agents has a bug where it (a) shows that the current model is “GPT 5.3 High” and (b) doesn’t allow you to change the model.

I’ve confirmed that this is indeed not the model used for the session by checking usage (which shows I am using Composer 2) and when I look at the same conversation in Cursor 3 Glass I also see “Composer 2” as the model not “GPT 5.3”.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. start a conversataion/agent locally with Composer 2 as the model.
  2. Move to > Cloud for the current conversation.
  3. Go to the web interface (cursor.com/agents) and check which model is being used.

Expected Behavior

I would expect to have a model drop-down that allows me to pick the model and that the model shown matches the model that is actually used.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the detailed report. This is a known issue. When a chat is moved from the IDE to the cloud web UI at cursor.com/agents, it can show the wrong model name. The agent is actually running on the model you selected in the IDE, in your case Composer 2. It’s just the display that’s wrong.

About not being able to change the model in the dropdown on cursor.com/agents, the team is aware of that too. I’ve shared your report to help with prioritization. There’s no ETA yet, but we’ll update the thread if there’s any news.

Describe the Bug

Hi!
I wanted to ask, cause I have a feeling that web app is secondary citizen here  I started using Cursor Agents, but I want to use them outside of home, from my mobile device. But it does not work so well as Agent IDE.

  1. I can’t change model during conversation. This is big bummer. I’m using at least two different models many times. Since I can’t share state on Cloud Agents between chats as in Cursor IDE, I’d like to change model during conversation at least. Possible on Agent IDE, not possible on Web
  2. What’s actually more confusing, I’ve changed on IDE Agent to Gemini and on browser I see ‘codex’ This is big issue here.
  3. I can’t find a way to add new agents in browser/change. Only use base pool. On Agent IDE I can do this, but this does not synchronize.

I have question, is it recommended not to use browser? I can’t even see category for browser bugs  Because if I need to use IDE and have to have my mac or PC running, Cloud Agents are without purpose to me.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to start new agent
  2. Try to add new models
  3. After starting new conversation ,try to change model

Expected Behavior

I can pick/remove models
I can change model during conversation

Just as in Agent IDE
