Cursor agent window and Cursor IDE chats do not sync

Describe the Bug

Cursor agent window chats do not sync with the og conversation in the ide chat window, worst of all the chats i had in the same conversation have now disappeared when i closed then reopened the windows for both ide and agent.

this has actually set me back cause i was brainstorming using ask on the agent window and expecting it to sync to the ide conversation, which it was yesterday, but i think the recent update screwed everything up.

question is where did my chats go to???

Steps to Reproduce

open cursor ide chat window,create a chat, start to chat, open cursor agent window, click on the pre-existing chat you created for and continue the chat, observe no syncing happening on cursor ide window no matter how many times you close and reopen the chat window in the ide. close both windows and the chats you had on agent window disappear

Expected Behavior

I think you already know that my chats should NOT dissappear and they should sync if its the same ■■■■■■ conversation

Hey, thanks for the report. Could you let me know if you’re opening a specific project or an empty Cursor window? If it’s the latter, your chats won’t be saved because chats are tied to a specific project.

About the missing chats: conversations in the Agent window are stored locally. If they disappeared after closing and reopening, that looks like a bug we need to check. The IDE chat history should still remain in the regular chat panel.

If you have any additional info, it would be very helpful.

im opening a specific project and decided to try out the new agent window. it worked well until i closed and reopened the agent window and then all the new messages that i had sent in the agent window disappeared for a conversation i had started in the ide window. so it basically reverted to the chat history that was there initially in the ide window without the new messages i had sent in the agent window. I just used the same chat conversation btw and just continued it in the agent chat. then closed and reopened and the new messages i had sent in the agent window,same chat but the new messages had dissapeared. not i hadnt used agent mode just ask mode cause i was brainstorming
