Cursor ai has become dreadfully slow

Describe the Bug

I am using the auto agent setting. I am finding the responses, even to the simplest requests, to be dreadfully slow… like minutes instead of seconds. I cursor throttling my usage by slowing things down or are their systems just overwhelmed. It is the same, any hour of the day, any day of the week.

Steps to Reproduce

Just make requests…

Expected Behavior

Timely, rapid responses, not minutes of waiting.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Are you still facing this issue or was it temporary?

Can you try checking Network Diagnostics? (Cursor – Troubleshooting Guide)

No network connectivity issues. Spotty performance. Sometimes comes back immediately with output. Other times, several minutes. Sigh.

Can you try updating to the latest version (1.3.5)?

Did. Still runs hot and cold. (auto is very slow to reply). When a model is selected, the responses are prompt.

I have checked the internet connectivity several times. No issues there.

Other thoughts?

hi @PeteDD we are now on Cursor 1.4.2 could you update?

Note that we are not throttling Auto usage.

Could you post a Request ID with privacy disabled so we can look into the details? Cursor – Getting a Request ID

@condor I just made up a what I consider a relatively simple request. It took 58 seconds before the very first of the response to begin and just over two minutes for it to complete.

“resort the mappings array by ConfigType with the simplist and smallest, memory-wise, items first, and the largest, most complex last. Do not rename any fields. Only change the array indexes.”

I pasted the mappings array into the request.

Here is the id number: 9b5601bc-8df2-42f6-997c-d2b8f44d29f0

This is certainly no where near some of the delays I have seen (that is, I have seen much longer delays than this example lately) but this seems slow compared to what I have become used to using Cursor.

I’ll be interested to hear what you learn.

Thank you.

Thank you, i forwarded the details to the team.

I am finding even simple tasks are taking forever (minutes per response) today.
