I’ve been using Cursor for the past two months and have found it to be quite useful. However, I’ve noticed a change in the credit deduction process. Last month, when I used Cursor in auto mode, I didn’t see any credit being deducted. But this month, I’ve noticed that credit is being deducted when I’m in auto mode. It feels like there was unlimited usage in auto mode before, but now I’m confused because I see credit being deducted. Is this a bug that was fixed, or is it something else?
They updated it a while back: Updates to Teams and Auto · Cursor
Auto is no longer free and unlimited for individual plans.
I am on enterprise plan and yet it keeps consuming premium requests. I guess its how it is now.
Thank you for confirming. I was not affected since Nov 2025, probably I was enrolled later for limited auto usage. But feel like this is a serious issue. I was so hyped I invited all my other friends to join cursor. I renewed my subscription and already I got spent on 40% of my credit. Truly upsetting update.
hi @mohsinkhanshuvo if you started your subscription before Sept 15th you would have had unlimited Auto until the next renewal date.
how good is auto mode now? do you find it comparable to the frontier model like GPT-5?
not too good like gpt-5 or claude sonnet 4.5 models but stable and enough for most of tasks, my personal experience
I find auto mode good enough actually for my tasks in job. It actually serves me very well. I like it better than windsurf and vscode to be honest. Auto mode is all I need if this is unlimited.
However if this is the case, I find cursor’s pricing too high to be honest. Sorry cursor team.
