It’s very disappointing, even though I am a 4 month continuous user of Cursor Ultra, paying $200 every fu*king month, and still I did not get even $1 extra. Earlier, I used to get $100 extra, so $500 worth of credit at $200; that was totally worth it, and that’s why I spent credits in similar way this time aswell. I estimated in the same way, and hence I used 100%, even though a few days were left, because I thought it will continue; however, it stopped and started using on demand. That’s very irritating and not good. I feel like I got cheated.
Image for reference (After on-demand usage, i manually disabled it)
This isn’t my point. Earlier it was $500 total, now it’s effectively $400. I planned my usage assuming the old limit would continue, so I used credits accordingly, and then it suddenly stopped.
The problem isn’t what’s written now, it’s that the change happened without any clear notice. If I had known, I would’ve managed my usage differently.
When was it $500? I have heard $400 for a long time. I am thinking maybe they used to give you an extra $100 every month, but that extra amount was never guaranteed. It’s disappointing that it changed.
Yes regardless it would be nice to have a clear log somewhere of all changes like these, small and big. Their changelog / blog posts don’t really do it well.
He is saying he no longer gets any free compute. That he has a hard limit at $400. Unless you are referring to the Auto/Composer usage which can be used after the $400 limit.
It may be because they introduced the Auto/Composer usage allowance as well, so maybe they are thinking that once you hit your $400, you would just use Auto/Composer which maybe they give you like $100 of that. Of course Auto/Composer are not as good of models as some of the API ones, but maybe that is Cursor’s logic in where the “extra” usage went.
Its not like that, for premium models it was $100 extra every fkin month since very long (5-6 month).
In smaller plans ($20) my friend who uses smaller plan still getting almost $20 extra. However I got $0 extra even when I am on $200 plan. Doesn’t that sound irritating?
Look, I value my time and for me time is money. Why would i use smaller models who could have potential to waste my time then opus or gpt which would give me better result.
The problem is when you suddenly stop giving, what you were giving earlier at the same price and start asking for money without informing the customer when they purchase plan. The change happen mid plan, that’s the issue, if they would have told that to me when i was buying i would have used that efficiently or have bought bigger plan or have done something else.
Yea, you can install the codex extension in cursor even. The free weekly usage is pretty good from my experience. And with this Diff Tracker extension you can get the same inline diff behavior after codex makes changes.
I was responding to the post who suggested Codex. Using codex’s free weekly usage is an alternative when you hit your Cursor limit in a pinch, but yea, I prefer to just use Cursor. That is why I am here.
I do see that I get a free request every few hours with Sonnet 4.6 even if I have already hit my limit. But if I do a second request, it will popup telling me to use Auto or upgrade. So are you not able to get any free requests at any time? That sucks.
