Cursor freezing and crashing

Cursor became absolutly unusable today, after all the other issues ( no mcp, high cpu usage, and short freezes, chat stopping because of connection and so on) now it freezes conpletly to the point that even comand q doesnt work anymore and i need to wait 5 to 10 minutes until it actually closes. Constant network errors.

But hey im sure you will release a cool looking new UI in the next update and not bothering about your broken product ( background agent and bug bot are also broken ) START FIXING !!!

  • Yes - Cursor is unusable
  • Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

The more details you provide, the easier it is for us to reproduce and fix the issue. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the report.

This looks like an issue with the latest update. I’m seeing similar symptoms from other users (high CPU/RAM, freezes). The team is aware, but let’s try to narrow down what’s happening on your side.

Here’s what we need for diagnostics:

Version and system:

  • Cursor Settings > About > Copy (full version string)
  • Which macOS version are you on?

What’s happening:

  • Does it freeze right on launch, or after a specific action?
  • If you open CMD + Shift + P > Developer: Open Process Explorer, which process is using the most CPU/RAM? (extensionHost, ptyHost, renderer?)

Extensions:

  • Cursor Settings > Application > Experimental > Extension Monitor Enabled, turn this on and restart
  • CMD + Shift + P > Developer: Open Extension Monitor, it’ll show which extensions are causing load
  • Try launching from Terminal: cursor --disable-extensions. Does that help?

Workarounds if it’s blocking you:

For the network errors: Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics, then send the results.

Let me know what you find. With details, it’s much easier to figure out what exactly broke.

No im done for a while with cursor, you have cost me enough time and money

USE YOUR DAMN TEAM TO USE YOUR OWN DAMN PRODUCT!!! Start to acrually use it to find all theye obvious problems yourself before releasing more and more issues!

Cant you see how the entire forum is almost deat because no one wants to report anything anymore because it gets ignored anyway, cant you see how everybody has constant issues since months!!! I want a statement of the cursor ceo on whats going on with cursor.. are you guys broke? Are you guys laying off so many devs or whats the problem!?

The normal version, the early and nightly is completly broken and unusable

Cursor feels like a product in alpha state
