Cursor has disappeared from my system

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I was going to start Cursor today, but I notice the icon is broken and it seems whole Cursor IDE has disappeared from my OS.

With file search I could find it from place C:\Users*currentuser*\AppData\Local\Programs\cursor_

But I wonder if this is intentional or maybe Microsoft has decided to blacklist Cursor?

Steps to Reproduce

None really

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

The found cursor.exe says in details that it is 1.7.33.0

Additional Information

I’m going to re-install it now of course.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, are you using an antivirus or the built‑in Defender? The antivirus might have flagged Cursor as a trojan and removed it. You can add Cursor to your antivirus’s exclusion list.

ESET Nod32, and the log doesn’t say it would have done such thing

Try downloading it again. In any case, your data should have been preserved since only the app itself disappeared.

Same thing here, cursor was on my system before a reboot earlier this morning, just logged back in and its gone….same as OP… just regular old Defender on this box…nothing showing there

This shows in add/remove programs, but no go
