Cursor is *still* deleting itself from my machine?

Is there any work around to prevent Cursor from deleting itself from my machine ? This bug has been ongoing for nearly a year

Hi there,

That’s an incredibly frustrating experience, and you’re right, it has been a known for a while.

From what has been discussed in several other threads on this forum & discord, the self-deletion issue almost always occurs when Cursor is closed, or the PC is restarted, while an update is still being processed in the background. The update process gets interrupted, which corrupts the installation and leads to the application being deleted.

The most reliable workaround is to ensure that any update for the Cursor IDE has been fully completed before you close the application or shut down your machine.

Once the update is successfully installed, the problem should not reoccur until the next time Cursor needs to update itself.

Hope this helps prevent it from happening again
