Cursor keeps resetting my tab bar icon visibility (e.g. open file from diff)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

If it wasn’t annoying and confusing enough that these icons just suddenly disappeared one update without any sort of information on how to restore them, every time I go to use a tab bar icon, like “Open File” when looking at a diff or “File Annotations” for git blame on GitLens, it’s not there. I don’t know whether it’s being reset on IDE start or on update, but it’s infuriating.

Every time I have to go to “Configure Icon Visibility” to add it again because it’s missing. So annoying and breaks workflow.

Steps to Reproduce

Who knows when it disappears, but I’ve re-enabled these icons on so many times

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. A regression was recently discovered in versions 2.1.47+ (the team is already working on a fix) that may be related to your issue.

To clarify, could you please share:

  • When exactly do the icons reset - on every Cursor launch or after updates?
  • Which specific icons disappear (GitLens File Annotations, Open File from Diff, others)?
