Cursor Login issues with the latest version 11 22 25

Describe the Bug

Windows 10 22h2.
Today I downloaded the newest version of cursor. It will not login.
Prior to having the issues above, my chat was unable to connect, so I logged out and then tried logging back in.

Firefox would open, I would sign in, and the windows APP would fail to detect.

Expected Behavior

When you click on login, it redirects you into ur default browser, and you login, then the app is supposed to detect that you are logged in.

SOLUTION —————- Worked for me.

Download an older version of cursor !

I tried the newest one, I tried clearing browser cache, uninstalling with REVO and reinstalling.
Nothing would work.

The only thing that worked was downloading an older version.

Hey, thanks for the report and for finding a workaround.

To help investigate this issue in the latest version, could you share:

  • Exact version number: Help > About in Cursor (both the broken version and the older version that works)
  • Browser test: does the same issue happen in Chrome or Edge?
  • Firewall/antivirus: are you using any security software that might be blocking the authentication callback?

In the meantime, the standard steps for troubleshooting sign in issues are:

  • Temporarily disable firewall/antivirus
  • Try without VPN (if you are using one)
  • Clear the browser cache for cursor.com

Since you’ve already confirmed that downgrading helps, you can download older versions here: Download · Cursor while we look into this.

Please share the version details and I can escalate this as a possible regression in the latest release.

The above is the only version that works for me on either windows 10 22h2, or windows 11 24h2. The latest version ONLY works for me on Arch Linux, not windows 10 nor 11. But quite honestly the new version(tested on linux) is so BAD. The default window layout is horrible imo… (no file explorer on as default? when I open a folder the least I expect to be always on is the file explorer / solution explorer. There is never a reason for this to ever ever be off by default in any code editor or ide) The new agent window is more annoying than anything, I couldnt find a way to get rid of it within about 2 minutes on linux, so i deleted the appimage, and started using the old one. So yeah the new version works on Linux but I wouldn’t use it.

Anything above that I had issues either logging in, or little things like the AI replacing code and not opening the file it just edited, or the NEXT review button now going to NEXT review.

The 2 latest versions simply dont login. Tried chrome and firefox. No antivirus, I use WUB (windows update blocker) and dcontrol (defender control).

I dont use ANY antivirus or firewall for the past 20+ years ! :smiley:
