Cursor on Ubuntu 24.04 is broken

Several issues I’ve run into:

  • running the appimage with --no-sandbox uninstalls nautilus
  • changing the window size in any way causes cursor to hang and eventually crash
  • code and cursor commands can’t install during setup

I would love to give this company my money! Please fix your product.

I’ve also had issues with Ubuntu 24.04.1. I’ve gone back to 22.04 because the new version was too buggy. When I tried to authenticate Cursor via GitHub it would hang. This seemed to be related to a bug with an older version of VSCode. I’ve reported this to the Cursor team, hopefully they will find a fix. Also the process of installing Cursor on Ubuntu 24.04.1 is somewhat convoluted currently

I’m getting the same on Ubuntu with the latest Cursor download.

I have two laptops. My old one is on 22.04 and works properly. My new one is on 24.04 and cursor does not work. I contacted support. They suggested a few things that did not work. Then they just stopped responding completely.

the first two issues are no longer a problem for me as of cursor 0.45.11. still can’t get command line to work but I guess that’s fine–everything else is functional. would be nice if the cursor team was able to spend more effort on linux distribution but I understand mac is the larger userbase.
