Cursor Still on VSCode 1.99.3: Update Plans?

Hello,

Are there any plans to update the VSCode base? Cursor is currently at version 1.99.3 (March 2025), while VSCode is already at 1.104 (September 2025). Is there a projected update date? Is there a roadmap for expected update frequency?

Hi @gabrielws, thanks for reaching out! We do periodically review upstream VSCode updates to keep Cursor in sync, but at this time there isn’t a fixed timeline.

If there’s a particular feature or improvement in newer VSCode versions that you need, please share.

In addition to compatibility with various extensions and general security/bug/performance fixes, there are two features I wanted:

  • Support for oklab and oklch color functions (1.101)
  • New setting window.border (1.104)

I also need TypeScript’s Expandable Hovers only available in 1.103 stable

Git - support HEAD <> working tree changes in gutter · Issue #60389 · microsoft/vscode · GitHub this is also very much missing (1.100)

Is there a reason you guys don’t generally consider keeping up to date with the latest VSCode versions just as a baseline rule?

The farther Cursor gets behind, the more security issues and extension support issues are going to mount.

In the last year, cusor update the vscode version at least 2 month one time.

But this year, seems half year ome time.

Would love to have the below in Cursor

@kplates (kplates): feat: Include/ Exclude file types from file search PR #254285

It really was the opportune time. Plow forward, plow forward, plow, plow, plow… I guess?

Please update. Windsurf/Antigravity all got to 1.104+

It seems they have done it!
