I’m on Mac OS, trying to use claude 4, but other models like Gemini 2.5 are also failing.
For the past week, 4/5 requests I make will get stuck at the stage of generating a file. Even after waiting for multiple hours, the tool call won’t fail, but it won’t generate the file either. I am forced to start a new chat or re-send the request but it will still fail 80% of the time.
This makes the application completely unusable, while I’m still getting charged for the requests.
I have tried every suggestion, including a fresh reinstall and a no-extensions mode to no avail.
Please let me know whether this is related to my machine or high load on the backend, and whether or not this will be fixed soon.
I’m experiencing the same issue. I upgraded to version 0.50.5, but the problem still persists.
More specifically, using Ctrl+K with Cursor: Open Edit (Command K) works fine and code completions are effective.
However, when I use Ctrl+I to start a new chat, it gets stuck on “generating…”. After a long time, when I open it again, I find that it actually did receive a response. This happened yesterday and has still not been resolved. All previous chats were working fine.
I’m currently using 51.2 and this has been happening to me also, even with prior builds. I’d decided to try betas to see if it solved this situation. Last night I waited 10 minutes for a Gemini Pro 2.5 response before it eventually timed out. I’m having similar issues with the Claude models. Please fix this!
"What did you break in the background again? I can’t even use it properly with my own API key. The model I’m using is Gemini 2.5 Pro… Same issue on 50.5, and also on 51.2

I solved this issue by downgrading the version.
I tried versions like 0.50.5, 0.51.2, and even 1.0 — all of them had extremely slow response times (over 10 minutes).
I also tried switching between my company’s enterprise account and my personal Pro account.
I tested various solutions I found online, like changing AI models, disabling HTTP/2, reauthorizing my account, and more.
None of those worked.
However, an older version on another computer didn’t have any issues. So I downgraded to 0.47.9 and 0.48.8.
These versions show a “slow” warning but still respond very quickly afterward.
It’s possible that the newer versions changed something related to proxy handling.
Unfortunately, I can’t modify my company’s proxy settings.
In the latest versions’ network diagnostics, DNS, SSL, and HTTP/2 keep spinning without passing, while the other five checks show green ticks.
Sometimes, “chat” and “agent” even say they’re being blocked by a proxy.
