I’ve been using Auto all along. Doesn’t Auto claim to have unlimited usage? Can Auto also trigger usage limits?

I have basically only used auto and I am over my $20 and I have not seen any notice about reaching my usage limit or any effect on making agent requests as auto.
Assuming only using Auto to reach $20., does that mean the advanced model Claude 4 can no longer be used, but Auto can still be used? So should we prioritize using Claude 4 and other advanced models first, and only switch to Auto after exceeding $20?
I always thought the limit only applied to advanced models—does Auto also count toward the limit?

It’s free and does not count in the limit, I’ve reached my limit at 76.93$ of pro models on a 20$ plan.
If you look at this screenshot, I’ve used Auto for all but one day of the month as Claude 4 sonnet used all my credit in a single day.

Auto is not charged to your account. We include it in the list for your information about your usage.
The screenshot you shared is likely from a test version, I’m checking if there is an issue there.
@Qiang could you please post your Cursor version so we can check in detail?
From my current usage and comparing with the dashboard: Left bar is auto mode (free), right bar is pro models.
The 17.90/20 is a bit misleading, they should either remove the auto usage from it or show 2 separate strings for pro models and auto mode.

2、Some people say that once the usage limit is triggered, the Auto model will become very unintelligent. Is this true?

We got feedback from users that its not clear enough when just Active Tab is shown and made adjustments.

There is no difference with Auto model no matter before or after limit was reached. Its the same performance.

Usage is tracked by model and tokens as reported by AI providers. We show this clear in Dashboard > Included Usage Summary and below that in All Raw Events you can see each request made. The in plan included usage is usually. a minimum included but you would get more depending on your usage.
You can see above at webdos post that they received more than $20 worth of usage on the Pro plan.

All plans have same performance and same models. The difference is ONLY the amount that is included. For not too intensive usage Pro plan is enough. Moderate usage works best with Pro+ and intensive usage with Ultra ($200).

There is no difference in plans from models and performance.
Edu Pro is a one year discount on Pro usage, thats the only difference. All other features are same.
There’s definitely something fucky going on with the billing here. I also primarily use Auto with maybe 3-4 times I have to pick a specific model when one chokes or doesn’t respond (quality product, Cursor).
I just got a “You have used your $20 already” message.
Please tell me you didn’t change your pay model AGAIN without telling people. I was told it was unlimited responses but would be rate-limited. Definitely confirm if this is the case.
If Cursor is going to charge me $20 and then let me use maybe a week worth of the auto mode for it then I will drop this steaming pile of scammy dogshit faster than gravity allows on Earth.
Using the program is an absolute pain, but if they’re going to rip me off while struggling with it they can sit on it.

You can use the Cursor Usage extension to see how close you are from reaching your limit.
Once you have reached the rate limit, only Auto or these models are unlimited: claude-3.5-haiku, deepseek-v3.1, gemini-2.5-flash, gpt-4o-mini, grok-3-mini, o3-mini
