Duplicate “Claude Code” icons in Activity Bar (cannot hide one) V2.6.20

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Two separate Claude Code icons appear in the Activity Bar (see attached screenshot).
In Cursor, there is no right‑click “Hide” or context menu on these icons.
Disabling the extension hides both; re‑enabling it brings both duplicates back.
Running View: Reset View Locations and restarting Cursor does not remove the duplicate.

Steps to Reproduce

Install the Claude Code extension and enable the Cursor integration.
Open Cursor.
Look at the left Activity Bar.

Expected Behavior

Only one Claude Code icon should appear in the Activity Bar, or
Cursor should allow hiding one of the two views, like VS Code does.

Cursor v2.6.20

Additional Information

I want to keep a single Claude Code icon in the Activity Bar and use Cmd+Shift+Esc to open it, but right now I’m forced to have duplicates.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Notice the same issue.

Hey, thanks for the report. This is a known issue. Cursor doesn’t support the Secondary Sidebar yet, and Claude Code registers view containers for both the Activity Bar and the Secondary Sidebar. Cursor redirects both into the Activity Bar, which is why you see a duplicate.

More details: Secondary Sidebar not supported

You can’t remove the second icon right now. The Hide context menu option doesn’t work because of the custom Activity Bar implementation. As a workaround, you can set up Claude Code via the Side Panel so you don’t rely on the icons at all. Guide: Claude Code Side Panel (Chat Panel) Setup Guide
