I’m having error “User is unauthorized” when send request in Cursor

Steps to Reproduce

I’m having an issue logging into Cursor on my Mac (macOS).

The same account works perfectly on my Windows PC, but on my Mac the app fails to authenticate and shows the following error in the console:

Expected Behavior

I signed up for a month and have been blocked like this for days now. It’s really inconvenient

Hey, thanks for the report. I’ve seen several similar cases that were resolved. Please try:

  • Fully restart Cursor: this fixed the identical “User is unauthorized” error for another user
  • Check your Mac’s date/time: make sure it’s correct (System Settings > General > Date & Time). Authentication can fail if the system date is wrong
  • Run network diagnostics: Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics
  • Check VPN/firewall: temporarily disable your VPN or firewall to see if they’re blocking authentication
  • Sign out of Cursor and sign back in

If this doesn’t help, please share:

  • Console errors (Help > Toggle Developer Tools > Console tab)
  • Whether you’re using a VPN or firewall on your Mac
  • Network diagnostics results
